A Little Bit About Me
Samara Shavrick is a performer currently working as an entertainment host with Disney Cruise Lines aboard the Disney Magic. She recently graduated summa cum laude from Texas Tech University. In her time at Texas Tech, she served as a student ambassador and was elected to serve as chair for the Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts in the Student Government Association. Samara also worked at the University Recreation Center, teaching fitness classes to keep the student population healthy. In the Lubbock community, Samara taught for an outreach program called Dance Connect with Ballet Lubbock, teaching dance classes to public elementary schools around the Lubbock area. In addition to her two jobs and her work as a full-time student, Samara also managed a branch of a company here in Lubbock that hosts character parties for birthdays and events. She was involved in 7 productions during her time at Texas Tech, from playing leads in shows like Sweet Charity and The Threepenny Opera, to co-directing Fly By Night, the latter of which she won a meritorious achievement award in directing from the Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival Region 6. She is most proud of winning the Kennedy Center American Theatre Festival Musical Theatre Initiative in her freshman year at Tech. In her senior year, she was chosen to attend a prestigious theatre workshop at Bilkent University in Turkey, traveling with a select group of devoted Texas Tech students to study ancient Greek mask work. As her post-graduate journey continues, she cannot wait to see where her love of performing and academia takes her.
